Building open

The building is open again as we return to in-person gatherings with a temporary limited experience. During this phase of our reopening, we’ll offer a worship service on Sunday morning at 10:00 that will be broadcast over our radio station to the parking lot. Doors will open at 9:45. We will continue to post the message online as well. During this time we will offer a limited program for kids,  birth through grade 5.

What do the limited gatherings look like?

During our short-term limited gatherings, we’re taking every precaution according to guidance from the Governor, CDC, and Baptist State Convention of North Carolina:
~ We are limiting services to 50% capacity.
~ Entrance to service will be from the front of the Church only.
~ Area between Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall will be closed to through traffic.
~ Ushers will seat you so families can sit together, and so that these seating clusters are distanced from others. They will also dismiss at the end of the service.
~ People wanting to hear the service in their car should park in the Shawboro side parking lot.
~ Offerings will be collected in containers at the back of the church, or in buckets on the way out of the parking lot.
~ Bathroom access is limited to 1-2 individuals at a time (and we are disinfecting restrooms often).
~ The wearing of masks are strongly recommended. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the doors.
~ All attendees are asked to self-screen before attending. Anyone experiencing fever, cough, or other COVID-19 symptoms should not attend.
~ Vulnerable populations should not attend.

What will Children's Ministry look like?

As we are trying to limit foot traffic through the building, please see below the logistics of what our Children’s Ministry will look like.
~ Drop off will be done using a carpool lane that will be set up in the Sligo parking lot. Kindergarten and below are to be dropped off at the door to the children’s wing. Grades 1 through 5 are to be dropped at the doors to the Fellowship Hall. Parents are then asked to drive around to the Shawboro side parking lot to park.
~ Drop off will be from 9:45.
~ Pick up will also be done through the carpool line which will be reversed.
~ Kindly do not allow any toys, snacks or drinks to be brought in. Diaper bags are allowed.

When will full gatherings and other activities resume?

Everything hinges on the health of our community and the CDC’s recommendations. We have to be more cautious about how we reopen due to the age of our congregation, so we’re starting with limited socially-distanced gatherings in August, and hope to return to our full gatherings and normal weekly schedule soon after.

Will regular activities look different when they return?

While we expect our in-person gatherings to feel the same once we fully reopen, like the rest of society, we expect that the way we interact with each other will look a little different for a while. We’re going to continue to modify the parts of our services that required physical contact before (such as passing out bulletins, offering plates and greeting each other with handshakes), and we’re doing everything we can to keep our facilities clean and safe.

Even if you see more face masks (and a lot more hand sanitizer), when we gather together again in-person, we hope it will feel like coming home.
